I design bold, engaging sites that are built to attract user attention and compel action. My design process is documentary in nature, in that I typically spend a good deal of time following clients around, shooting photos and video while I get a feel for their business, and as such, I'm bloody terrible at misrepresenting anything.
It's probably a better idea to show you than tell you.
Once a design is complete (whether it's yours or mine), I code it by hand using a combination of XHTML, CSS, PHP, SQL, and JavaScript in whatever combination seems appropriate for the job. I use a custom-designed site construction framework that helps me expedite the development process while allowing for a lot of flair and a great user experience that works in all major browsers.
Good site hosting and good content management go hand in hand. I provide hosting for a number of small business web sites, and can quickly and seamlessly install content management as needed. Clients can choose from a variety of hosting and CMS options, including Pixie, Drupal, and WordPress.
I've been a web professional for nearly ten years, and I've spent a good amount of that time formally teaching people everything from blogging to programming. As a matter of process, I create a LOT of documentation designed to help clients understand how their web sites work, how to get the most out of their investment, and what to do if something goes wrong.
As often as possible, I like to help stories tell themselves. In the process of establishing exactly what story an organization is going to tell online, I create a large amount of audio, video, and documentation. Sometimes these elements find their way into the final product, sometimes they ARE the final product, and sometimes they end up on the cutting room floor. Regardless, all audio, video, and documentation is delivered to the client at the end of the project. These raw materials often prove very useful in future projects, and they're great for marketing purposes.
If you've had limited exposure to the web design/development process, you probably have a litany of questions about stuff like search enging optimization (SEO), hosting costs, and how all this stuff works in the first place. Here are a few links to fill in the blanks.
